“The Price of Pleasure” insinuates itself into the shadows of Dubai’s sex market, where the desire for power, money and, of course, pleasure, intertwine in a dangerous dance. The plot revolves around Emi, an ambitious young woman who sees Dubai as an opportunity to achieve her most extravagant dreams. But as a VIP escort, she soon realizes that the glitter of this world hides dangers that are as real as they are attractive.
Inspired by real events that shook Polish society, the film not only tells Emi’s story but also sheds light on a much-discussed phenomenon: the “Dubai scandal”. The repercussion was such that it became the biggest premiere of a local film in Poland in 2021, attracting an audience of 278 thousand people, according to CineEuropa.
