This Sunday, several days after the events, relief prevails for Anissa and Yasmina. Their brother Nordine is still hospitalized in Strassen but he is awake and is better. The 58-year-old man, a French border worker at Rotarex in Lintgen, has however come a long way. On Wednesday May 31, when his car broke down, he had to take the train from Mersch to Luxembourg, then from Luxembourg to Rodange, to return home near Longwy.

“At 4.30 p.m., I received a text from him saying ‘I’m not feeling well, come and pick me up in Rodange’,” Anissa told The essential. She waits at Rodange station until 6:50 p.m., in vain. “I then tried to call the CFL to see if there was any trace of an incident, I was told no,” says the still moved lady. “Around 7:30 p.m. we started calling the hospitals. Then in Strassen, after several questions about my identity, it was confirmed to me that he had been taken care of at their home, ”continues Anissa. But no information is given to him over the phone. What could have happened to his brother? On the spot, the relatives discover Nordine in intensive care and learn that he had a heart attack with cardiac arrest. He was operated and his vital prognosis is engaged.

The family leaves the hospital around midnight in uncertainty, even evokes, in tears, his funeral. The next day, Thursday June 1, Nordine nevertheless came out of a coma and the medical team was able to deintubate him. “He was conscious but confused,” the sisters said. The 50-year-old does not remember anything, so his relatives then launch an appeal on social networks to redo the thread of this Wednesday afternoon.

The first decisive intervention by two people

A call shared “thousands of times”, hundreds of messages pour in. Until that of a female security guard, who says she was the one who saw Nordine, failing in her place on the train.
