The musical “Billy Elliot”, with music by Elton John, is in Milan

The musical “Billy Elliot”, which celebrates dance, is staged at the Sistina Chapiteau in Milan; award-winning, with music by Elton John, based on the 2000 film which received three Oscar nominations. At La Scala open rehearsal of the Philharmonic Orchestra, with a conductor like Myung-Whun Chung also soloist on piano in Mozart. In Padua and Venice we instead listen to a chamber music program with exceptional musicians, among twentieth century masterpieces.

From 4 to 14 April at the Sistina Chapiteau the musical “Billy Elliot”, which celebrates dance; Book by Lee Hall, music by Elton John, from the 2000 film by Stephen Daldry, with three Oscar nominations. Adapted into Italian and directed by Massimo Romeo Piparo. It tells the exciting story of Billy, a talented boy ready to fight against anyone who wants to hinder his goal: to become a professional dancer. With Giulio Scarpati, Rossella Brescia, and Emiliano Fiasco in the role of the young protagonist; a cast of over thirty artists and live orchestra. Choreography by Roberto Croce, sets by Teresa Caruso, costumes by Cecilia Betona. The musical debuted in London in 2005 and nominated for nine Olivier Awards (won four). On Broadway he won ten Tony Awards. Other performances at the Teatro Valli in Reggio Emilia from 19 to 21 April.

On the 7th at La Scala open rehearsal of the Scala Philharmonic Orchestra with conductor Myung-Whun Chung, also soloist on piano in Mozart’s Concerto K. 488; Symphony no. will follow. 6 by Bruckner. Chung became Director Emeritus of the orchestra in 2023, sealing an artistic and human relationship that has continued for more than thirty-five years. The proceeds collected with the Open Test go to support the Don Gino Rigoldi Foundation and the SOUL project (support for study, university orientation and work): group meetings, orientation and individual paths accompany students with fragility between the ages of 16 and 19 age, in five schools in different neighborhoods of Milan and in two community centres. The concert will be held on the 8th at 8pm, broadcast live on Rai Radio 3 and on La Scala TV.

Padua and Venice

On the 4th at the C. Pollini Auditorium Amici Musica, a beautiful program that presents Schönberg’s “Pierrot Lunaire”, Casella’s “Sicilienne et Burlesque”, Debussy’s Sonata n.1 for cello and piano, and the suite from “L’ Histoire du Soldat” by Stravinsky. They will be interpreted by an exceptional ensemble, with pianist Alexander Lonquich, Irena Kavčič (flute), Tommaso Lonquich (clarinet), Ilya Gringolts (violin) and Enrico Bronzi (cello); the acting voice is that of soprano Mojca Erdmann.
