Fran Drescher became known 30 years ago through «The Nanny». Even after three decades, the actress has hardly changed.
Fran Drescher (64) became a star as Nanny Fran Fine from the Sheffield family. The series “The Nanny” is still considered a cult today. It was first broadcast in the 90s. 30 years have passed, but Fran Drescher has hardly changed since then. She showed that on the red carpet at the premiere of the Netflix series “Uncoupled” in New York (USA). The actress still wears her dark mane and has the same beaming smile as she did then.
But Drescher is happy that she has gained a few kilos after the end of the successful series. In an interview with the Australian magazine “Marie Claire” she explained that she was too thin due to stress. “When I sold the show in 1993, I weighed 140 pounds,” she says, adding, “By the end of season five, it was maybe 115 pounds. I was burned out.” She can no longer wear most of her costumes from back then, but that doesn’t bother her: “I couldn’t be so thin and look good anymore.”
Fran Drescher had cervical cancer
Fran Drescher has struggled with health problems in the past. In 2000 she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Her uterus had to be removed in an emergency operation. Before that, she had struggled with pain for years. She recorded her experience in her book “Cancer Schmancer”. (bsn)
