As announced by the organizers, the public institution Institute of Civic Thought, the main motto of this year’s organizers is “Write. be wrong Learn”.
“We invite everyone to take dictation. Only we can take care of our language. Even if we make mistakes in writing or speaking, we can always improve – together with friends, colleagues or classmates. Only the decision of each of us will determine what the Lithuanian language will be in the future”, says Vytautė Šmaižytė-Kuliešienė, organizer of the National Dictation.
Dictation has been organized in Lithuania since 2006. Almost 30 thousand people in Lithuania and the world take dictation every year.
The dictation will be available at 11 o’clock on LRT radio and on the LRT.lt portal.
The national dictation will traditionally select the most literate student, the most literate adult and the most literate foreign Lithuanian. The dictation final will be held in May in Vilnius.
The dictation is simultaneously written according to the original text written by Lithuanian authors for this event. Later, the dictations are checked by specialists and the finalists meet for another dictation, after which the winner is chosen.
You can write the dictation anywhere – in the nearest library, your school, municipality and leave it to the organizers. You can write at your workplace or at home and send the written dictation to the organizers.
Lithuanian communities abroad will receive a recording of the dictation from the organizers and will be able to participate in the competition on March 16-17 at a time convenient for them.
