The new Ford Mustang arrives from September 14 with a GT Performance pack

The 2024 Ford Mustang is finally starting to show off a bit: Ford has released a new teaser video that gives us a look at the trunk of the world’s most famous muscle car.

Although there’s not much to see, the clip suggests that the rear of the car has been upgraded. There are clearer and more prominent body lines. And especially no black fairing found on the current model. More interestingly, the teaser shows off a “GT Performance” badge and it suggests that the GT Performance pack will indeed be back. Although there are no details at this point, the current package costs $6,700 and adds a front spoiler and rear spoiler along with 19-inch black alloy wheels wrapped in performance tires. In addition to the look improvements, the GT Performance package includes stronger springs, some specific suspension parts and a larger radiator to optimize cooling.

Customers also find a Torsen rear differential and six-piston Brembo front brake calipers with larger discs measuring 380mm instead of 352mm. Other highlights include the specific chassis tuning as well as a recalibrated stability control system. We therefore imagine that all these elements will also be required on the future GT Performance version of the “Stang”.

The best Mustang to come?

We remind you that the next Mustang will be unveiled in Detroit on September 14. In addition to a more avant-garde design, the new model is expected to have a sleeker interior that includes a digital instrument panel, a new infotainment system and higher quality materials. In any case, this is what the first photos of the interior that have leaked on the web suggest.

The engines that will be available under the hood of the new Mustang are yet to be confirmed, but the turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder and 5.0-liter V8 should most certainly return with better performance. The four-cylinder could put out around 325 horsepower, while an upgraded version of the V8 could approach the 500 horsepower mark. Case to follow.
