the Paperwhite template from Amazon has had great success. A little dated, the American company has therefore decided to update its water-resistant reading lamp with a version 2021, which improves many points compared to the previous model, but the price was revised upwards at launch. However, good news today, since it benefits a discount of 45 euros on its initial price and now costs only 5 euros more than the 2018 model.

La Kindle Paperwhite 2021, c’est …

  • A bigger screen
  • Improved autonomy
  • And better performance

Launched at 139.99 euros, the new Kindle Paperwhite 2021 e-reader is right now on sale at 94.99 euros on Amazon. It’s a very good price, knowing that the 2018 model was often sold at 89.99 euros (instead of 129.99 euros) with a promotion.

Some adjustments, for more comfort

This new version of the waterproof e-reader brings its share of new features, starting with its now 6.8-inch diagonal 300dpi screen, or 0.8 inch more than the previous model. The screen borders are even refined to ensure better reading comfort. Rest assured, the reader retains the same compact format, and remains easily transportable. By increasing the brightness of its screen by 10%, Amazon promises more comfortable reading for the eyes, in particular via the warm backlight, intended for night reading.

Better performance

The Kindle Paperwhite 2021 sees its performance improve and becomes 20% faster than the 2018 version. This will bring more fluidity to your reading and less latency when changing pages. Autonomy is also a booster. Already strong, the 2018 model still showed after three weeks of use 59% battery during our test. The 2021 version of the waterproof e-reader promises a ten-week battery life, enough to quickly forget to recharge it. Finally, the last notable development, charging is now done via a USB-C cable, thus making it possible to align with the market standard in terms of connectivity – and therefore avoid having to multiply chargers.

Model-specific features still in the game

Otherwise, this version retains the same characteristics as the first model, namely its waterproofness. It’s still water resistant thanks to its IPX8 certification, so you can always rest easy if you’re used to reading in your bathtub and are a little clumsy. It offers 8 GB of storage, to store a fine collection of e-books, which can be downloaded directly via Wi-Fi from the Kindle catalog which offers more than 5.5 million references. Some interesting features are also on the program, with for example the “interactive vocabulary” function to automatically collect all the words searched for in the dictionary, or even adjust the font size to limit eye fatigue.
