As we know, the Need for Speed saga will be talked about again in 2022. After a Need for Speed Heat launched in 2019 that many players have (quite rightly by the way) already forgotten, the saga has taken a break in order to come back in better shape than ever. According to Jeff Grubb, the new Need for Speed could be talked about very soon, with no doubt an official name, a trailer… and a release date!
The new Need for Speed only on “current gen” consoles?
“Need for Speed is still planned for this year yes… it’s true, the game should be launched in November” thus indicated Jeff Grubb in his show Grubbsnax. The VentureBeat journalist is taking a very moderate risk when announcing the game’s release date, since the 2015, 2017 (Payback) and 2019 (Heat) games were all launched… in November.
However, if the majority of us were able to count on a release at the end of 2022 (if the game is indeed still planned for this year), Jeff Grubb indicates that this new Need for Speed would be an exclusive “current- people”. Understand by this that the game signed Electronic Arts would be available only on the new PS5 and Xbox Series X | S, in addition to a probable PC version.
At the end of last year, Laura Miele, chief’s studio’s officer at EA, then told Polygon that Criterion Games was still taking care of the new Need for Speed, scheduled for March 2023 on next-gen consoles, but also PS4 and Xbox One. A new opus that could take players to Miami. It remains to be seen now if this will happen in 2022 or 2023, and if it will really take a new generation console to take advantage of this new Need for Speed.
