In service for a year and a half, the Ajoie and Clos du Doubs ice rink in Porrentruy (JU) had not been inaugurated due to restrictions linked to Covid. It’s been done since Friday in the presence of Guy Parmelin. The festivities last all weekend.
The Ajoie and Clos du Doubs ice rink in Porrentruy (JU) is officially inaugurated on May 13, 14 and 15. Hockey, skating and curling clubs offer workshops and events. Visitors can also discover all the corners of the rink, from the dressing rooms to the changing rooms and the technical rooms.
It is also a question of showing that this infrastructure awaited by the whole region can also host cultural events. Regional artists Kiki Crétin, Sim’s and Carrousel will share the stage during a show on Saturday evening. The ice rink, owned by the Syndicat intercommunal du district de Porrentruy, can also host commercial events.
Official ceremony
The festivities of this new regional and national ice sports center began Friday afternoon with the official part in the presence of some 500 guests, including Federal Councilor Guy Parmelin.
In Porrentruy, the Raiffeisen Arena with a capacity of 4,750 spectators, also has a second ice surface, and was partly built with 4,000 m3 of wood from the Jura forests. [Gaël Klein – RTS]
It was on July 1, 2018 that the 21 municipalities of Ajoie accepted the project to renovate the dilapidated Voyeboeuf ice rink, sometimes nicknamed the old barn. The enclosure, which dated from 1973, therefore no longer met safety standards.
Second ice surface
More than two years later, the Raiffeisen Arena, with a capacity of 4,750 spectators, opened its first ice surface at the end of 2020 in an enclosure still under construction.
This complex, with its 4000 m3 of wood from the Jura forests, has a second ice surface adapted to the standards of the North American NHL. This allows Porrentruy to have the vocation of becoming a training center for Swiss junior teams and a place of preparation on this NHL surface.
