The new Ressano Garcia dry port will decongest the main route between Maputo & Pretoria – Le Magazine du Manager

The new dry port of Ressano Garcia (Mozambique) should make it possible to relieve the EN4 toll road linking the two countries of nearly 7,500 large carriers which use it monthly.

The infrastructure extends over 98 kilometers from the city of Maputo to the border with South Africa. Although it has not yet been inaugurated, the new dry port will have to reduce the journey of trucks transporting minerals, in particular chrome iron, between the two countries.

Reached by rail, the new port is the result of a partnership between the CFM, the Mozambican authority in charge of ports and the rail network, and the South African company The Logistics Group (TLG).

Its storage capacity is around 250,000 tons of chrome iron ore, and its construction required an investment of 3.5 million dollars, according to the Mozambican state.

The platform is an integrated logistics area. It offers outsourced port services such as customs for goods in transit, immigration services (drivers), etc. In addition to its road-rail modal transfer function, the dry port will contribute to improving road safety and reducing pollution linked to the discharge of vehicles into nature.
