The next six months will decide whether war or peace – 2024-04-12 18:46:35

Chancellery Minister Gergely Gulyás reported on the results of Tuesday’s government meeting on Thursday together with Finance Minister Mihály Varga and Agriculture Minister István Nagy. Government spokeswoman Eszter Vitályos experienced her baptism of fire on this occasion.

Chancellery Minister Gergely Gulyás described the European Parliament’s adoption of the migration pact as a bad decision. “How extremely bad the proposal was is shown by an approval rate of only 55%, even though 70-80% of MEPs are considered supporters of uncontrolled immigration.”

In addition to Chancellery Minister Gergely Gulyás (Mr.) and the new government spokeswoman Eszter Vitályos, Finance Minister Mihály Varga (l.) and Agriculture Minister István Nagy also gave information on Thursday.

Approval for Donald Tusk

Central Europe will not repeat the mistakes of Western European social development. At this point, the Fidesz politician was able to agree with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who flatly refuses to distribute illegal immigrants or pay money if the resettlement of unwanted people is refused.

The Ukraine war is entering a critical phase, “more and more politicians in Europe are openly talking about crossing red lines. Anyone who sends soldiers to Ukraine immensely increases the risk of war entering. The next six months will decide whether war or peace in Europe. What is worrying is the change of direction in NATO, which is practically openly interfering in the conflict on the side of Ukraine.

US voters will decide

“Hungary continues to view NATO as a defensive alliance,” Gulyás clarified. “We have joined this alliance to defend each other in an emergency. But not to compete together against others, regardless of the higher morality behind it.” In any case, the most important decision regarding further developments in Ukraine would be made by the Americans who elect their president on November 5th. Donald Trump’s return to office promises a completely different scenario than if the Biden administration remains in power.

State puts projects on hold

Finance Minister Mihály Varga announced that the government is suspending state projects worth 675 billion forints (1.75 billion euros) due to the critical budget situation. This is happening regardless of the fact that the official deficit forecast for 2024 has already been raised from 2.9 to 4.5% of GDP. At the same time, the growth forecast was lowered from 4% to 2.5%. Budget planning for 2025 will be postponed until autumn. The government does not want to submit the budget for 2025 until after November 5th, the day of the presidential election in the USA.

Finance Minister Mihály Varga officially raised the deficit forecast for 2024 from 2.9 to 4.5% of GDP.

The “Green Deal” was a Dictate

Agriculture Minister István Nagy criticized the so-called “Green Deal” as a dictate that has deprived farmers of their competitiveness and their future. “Brussels and the EU Commission have betrayed the farmers and supported the Ukrainian oligarchs in their place.” In order to protect their own farmers against the uncontrolled flood of imports from Ukraine, half a dozen further measures are coming into force. Under this, the government requires registration of all agricultural products whose import from Ukraine is prohibited – in order to prevent imports via third parties. The tax authorities pay out aid more quickly, there are more tax breaks, low-interest loans and new tenders for the food industry.

At her first press conference, Eszter Vitályos was able to repeat the well-known key points of the new modernization program for older single-family homes. However, she did give a new number: The 108 billion forints that the state is providing will generate orders worth at least 127 billion forints for the construction industry.
