The Nintendo eShop was effectively shut down in Russia –

2023-05-31 23:58:56

Most major video companies have shut down their Russian efforts to protest the country’s war once morest neighboring Ukraine. One of the results of this is that the Nintendo eShop has all but been terminated in the country since yesterday.

Although there were steps taken by Nintendo before this, the Japanese gaming giant has now halted eShop sales in Russia, which means Switch users can no longer buy games and the Redeeming codes won’t work either. Nintendo writes in a statement:

Starting May 31, 2023 and for the foreseeable future, Russian customers with an existing Nintendo Account will be able to re-download digital content they previously purchased. It will not be possible to make new purchases or redeem download codes in Nintendo eShop in Russia.

Merci to the game developer
