The number of migrants who have passed through the Darien jungle in Panama to reach the United States exceeded last year’s figures. The country’s Ministry of Security reported that as of September 2022, more than 134,000 people have entered the border with Colombia, compared to more than 133,000 during 2021. Given the dangers of the jungle, crime and the dozens of migrants who have lost his life, the Panamanian authorities reinforce the police presence. Elizabeth Gonzalez has the report.
