The Oscar election is over: now it's being counted

By Tuesday evening (local time), the ballot papers from the more than 9,500 Oscar jurors had to be received at the Beverly Hills Film Academy.

Until the 95th trophy gala on Sunday, employees of the auditing company PricewaterhouseCoopers will count the votes in 23 prize categories to determine the winners. The result is brought directly to the Oscar ceremony in sealed envelopes.

The Oscar Academy yesterday announced additional celebrity contributors who will be handing out awards on stage, including Antonio Banderas, Nicole Kidman and Sigourney Weaver. Stars such as Glenn Close, Riz Ahmed, Dwayne Johnson and Michael B. Jordan had previously been named “presenters”. The 95th Academy Awards is hosted by comedian and presenter Jimmy Kimmel.
