The package that blew up Boston included a bond criticizing Meta’s Zuckerberg, according to CNN.

Bond also lamented the relationship between virtual reality developers and academia, the Cable news channel reported.

A campus employee who handled the package after it arrived Tuesday was injured in the detonation and was later taken to a hospital to treat his injured hands, Boston police said. A second suspicious package was found and secured.

Police said they are investigating the incident in conjunction with the Boston Fire Department and the Boston Emergency Medical Service. Some evening classes were canceled Tuesday, but campus operations will resume as normal Wednesday, Northeastern said on its website.

Authorities did not say who might have sent the package or why Northeastern was targeted.

CNN and Boston’s WCVB, citing law enforcement sources, said the package contained a bond criticizing Zuckerberg of Meta. Meta has developed a virtual reality social platform called Horizon.

CNN said the memo cautioned against collaborating with virtual reality developers. WCVB said the note was anonymous and put a general warning against collaborating with Zuckerberg.

The note was packaged in a pressurized container which exploded when opened, WCVB added.

Meta did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the reports, nor did the Boston Police Department.

Police at other campuses in the Boston area, including Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, have urged people to be cautious and report any suspicious packages.

The city was rocked by the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013, when three people were killed and more than 260 others injured by a pair of pipe bombs during the annual race.

In 2015, a jury sentenced Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to death for carrying out the attacks with his older brother, who died several days after the attack in a shootout with police.
