Who to succeed Titanium, by Julia Ducourneau? The 75^e editing of the Cannes Film Festival ends, Saturday May 28, with the presentation of the Palme d’or during the closing ceremony which will begin at 8:30 p.m. It will be broadcast on France 2 and on Brut, new partners of the Festival.

After viewing the twenty-one films in competition, the jury retired in the greatest secrecy. The name of the winner of the Palme d’or will be announced by the president of the jury, Vincent Lindon. At his side, to draw the winners of this edition, are notably the actress and director Rebecca Hall (Vicky Cristina Barcelona), the revelation of Millenium, Noomi Rapace, directors Asghar Farhadi (Grand Prix 2021 with A hero), Ladj Ly (WretchedJury Prize 2019) and Joachim Trier (Julie in 12 chapters, Prix of female interpretation 2021).

Among the 21 films in competition, Tchaikovsky’s Wife, by Kirill Serebrennikov. The coronation of this Russian artist, breaking with the regime, would be an event in itself at the end of a Festival which took place against a backdrop of war in Ukraine and made it a point of honor to offer a large place to this country. During the opening ceremonyPresident Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking live from kyiv, summoned the spirit of Chaplin and called on cinema to “not to be silent” in the face of the conflict that is devastating his country.
