Dr. Manar Ghanem, a member of the Media Center of the General Authority of Meteorology, revealed the details of the extreme heat wave that most governorates are exposed to, and its end date.
Ghanem told Masrawy, that the country has continued to rise in temperatures since last week, and today it will witness another rise by about a degree than yesterday, and it will be 3 degrees higher than its normal rates at this time of the year, pointing out that the peak temperature will be tomorrow, Monday, when it is recorded Cairo 38 degrees.
And she continued, “The cause of the high temperature is the effect of air masses coming from the desert of the Arabian Peninsula, and southern air masses on the surface of the Earth, which increases the temperature in addition to the high humidity as well.”
Ghanem confirmed the presence of an air elevation in the upper layers of the atmosphere, which helps to increase the periods of sunshine, and the atmosphere is very hot on Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the south of the country, north and south Upper Egypt, the northern coasts, southern Sinai, and most areas overlooking the Mediterranean and the Red Sea.
She indicated that the temperature will decrease slightly starting next Tuesday, but the hot weather will continue until the end of the week.
A member of the Meteorological Authority’s media center advised citizens to avoid direct exposure to sunlight, especially in the afternoon when the highest temperatures are recorded, to wear white cotton summer clothes, to drink large amounts of water and to be in well-ventilated places.
