In the context, security sources and French media revealed that the perpetrator of the attack was a Libyan in his twenties, who arrived in France 3 years ago, according to Al-Arabiya / Al-Hadath correspondent.

And she added that he was known to have criminal records, but he was not known to the intelligence services, and he was not accused of having relations with a terrorist group, adding that the French police had issued a decision to deport him from the country last summer.

It is noteworthy that the accident occurred at around 06:45 local time (05:45 GMT) inside the station, the largest in Europe in terms of the number of passengers, during rush hour, according to AFP.

The police officers controlled the perpetrator, using their weapons several times.

The attacker was seriously injured and received care from paramedics at the scene before being transferred to the hospital, according to the Public Prosecution.
