Medicine does not hinder music in the work of the pianist from Tucumán Lidia Hortt. Today at 9 pm, in the Auditorium of the Virla Cultural Center (May 25, 265) he will change the stethoscope for the keys.

-How do you divide your time between the cardiologist and the pianist?

– It took me a long time to adjust my study schedule for the piano. I go to the Health Center hospital in the mornings, and in the afternoons to the private office, so that at the end of the work day I have time and tranquility, as well as concentration, to be able to study piano. Although it’s not possible every day, I take more advantage of weekends and some holidays.

– Do both professions demand the same passion from you?

– That’s how it is. Health professionals in general are not recognized as they should for our work and dedication or for our years of study and improvement. If there were no vocation and passion, it would be difficult to face medicine every day. The difference is that I practice music without pressure, with my own time, without claims from anyone, and with my own demands.

– What is the repertoire you study?

– My study focuses on classical music by composers such as Bach, Mozart and Beethoven. I was adding works by contemporary authors and Argentine authors, because there is a vast source of works by Ginastera, Guastavino and many others. Anyway I also like to play tangos, boleros, folklore and melodic songs.

– What are you going to play tonight?

– The program includes a sonata Wolfgang A. Mozart; Moonlight Sonata, by Ludwig van Beethoven; the Masquerade Suite, from Aram Katchaturiamand Danza Santiagueña, by Manuel Gomez Carrillo.

– Can you briefly describe the works?

– Mozart’s sonata is perhaps the best known, especially for the last movement, known as the Turkish March. The first movement of Moonlight, named after Beethoven’s death, is the best known. It had many adaptations and was used as a soundtrack in films and series; It conveys immense sadness and pain. The Masquerade suite belongs to the composer of Armenian origin Katchaturiam, who is considered one of the most famous Russian authors of the 20th century. And the Danza Santiagueña is a work of our folklore, composed by Gómez Carrillo, a great Argentine musician and compiler, also from the 20th century.
