Residents of rue Saint-Louis in Rivière-du-Loup can rejoice. Piling works for the construction of the Medway Group property complex are now reportedly complete.

According to our information, the last pile was brought down around 11 a.m. Friday morning. This extremely noisy work was initially scheduled to end in March. The end of this phase has been postponed several times since then for various reasons. It is not excluded that “one-off” work may be carried out to redo certain piles. However, officially, this phase is now completed.

The repetitive noise as well as the vibrations caused by the piling were denounced by residents of the area at the start of the construction site, which began a year ago to the day.

When completed, the Rivière-du-Loup Health Complex will include commercial premises in addition to 165 rental housing units. It must also accommodate the new CLSC, but a company which wanted to obtain the contract recently took legal action once morest the CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent.
