A new WhatsApp update simplifies the use of the messenger service. Photo fans in particular will be happy about this.

Kassel – The instant messaging service WhatsApp has been around since 2009. However, the app has changed dramatically in the last 15 years. Not least because the app has been part of the Facebook group Meta, which also owns Instagram, since 2014. New updates for the messenger are constantly being released.

The iOS 24.775 update has recently been available for iOS users in the App Store. According to the changelog (changelog), it includes an improved video player and also offers the option of recording video instant messages. But that’s not all.

Press and hold the plus sign: New WhatsApp function saves a lot of time

According to the blog WABetaInfo, who regularly informs about new updates, there is another new function that is not listed in the official list of changes. It says: “Although it is not mentioned in the official changelog in the App Store, we can confirm that WhatsApp is releasing a handy shortcut for quick access to the photo gallery.”

Users can access this shortcut by holding down the attach button in the chat bar. This is the large plus sign in the lower left section of the chat.

The new function saves time because users save an additional step in navigating to their photo gallery. Previously, you had to choose between several attachment options before you could access the gallery.

New WhatsApp feature: How to get the update

Normally WhatsApp updates are downloaded automatically. The new function should therefore already be available on all iPhones. If you have switched off automatic updates on your mobile phone, you can also download the update manually from the AppStore.

As part of the Digital Markets Act passed by the EU in March, WhatsApp recently announced that it would introduce new terms of use and privacy policies in Europe. The app can no longer be used without consent to the new regulations. The adjustment will come into force with further changes on April 11th. (jus)
