Preventive control measures of road users will be carried out in April on state and local roads, police officers will patrol in public, non-public or mixed ways.
April 4-6 – control of drivers’ activities not related to driving (use of mobile communication devices while driving when hands-free equipment is not available), use of mandatory safety equipment (seat belts, safety helmets, special seats for children (fastening systems)).
April 8-11 – control of drivers not stopping in front of a pedestrian crossing when required by the Road Traffic Rules.
April 15-21 – control of the permitted driving speed of vehicles with mobile hand-held and/or speedometers installed in cars, initiated by the European Roads Policing Network ROADPOL.
April 22-24 – control of dangerous and hooligan driving, manoeuvring, overtaking where it is prohibited, driving through intersections, obeying traffic lights.
April 26-28 – checks of vehicle drivers’ sobriety, intoxication from narcotics or other psychoactive substances, initiated by the European road police network ROADPOL (European Roads Policing Network).
The chief police commissariats of the counties can organize other additional measures in the territories under their supervision.
April 6 Safe Traffic Day is celebrated in Lithuania. Motorcycle patrols by police officers begin in April.
