The Bogotá Metropolitan Police will lead this initiative, deploying more than 1,200 police officers to ensure the tranquility of parishioners during religious festivities in the Colombian capital.
With an emphasis on the prevention of crimes such as theft and homicide, security devices will be reinforced in the busiest locations during this season.
The uniformed men will accompany the devotees on their visits to more than 1,500 religious centers, promoting an atmosphere of reflection and family coexistence.
In addition, the Transit and Transportation Section will carry out awareness and orientation campaigns for tourists visiting the city, with a special focus on reducing road accidents.
The Protection and Special Services Section will work to prevent crimes that affect children and adolescents, Easter.
Also to monitor tourist environments and avoid any unfortunate incident.
Public order
Regarding criminal investigation, the corresponding Section will be in charge of identifying and capturing those responsible for crimes such as virtual scams and thefts from residences, while the Carabineros Section will focus on arresting those who trade in wild species, especially in tourist and religious areas.
Additionally, as part of a joint effort to maintain security during these festivities, priests from all churches will form a Security Front, led by priest William Alfonso Alarcón Cruz.
This group will be dedicated to reporting any incident of insecurity to the competent authorities, thus contributing to guaranteeing a peaceful and safe environment for all citizens and visitors during Holy Week in Bogotá.
