The police on the Sandefjord robbery: At least two perpetrators – they are still at large

The police received a report at around 3am on Sunday that masked and armed men had broken into an event at a private address in the area of Breidablikk in Sandefjord.

– It is currently unclear to the police whether the perpetrators have a relationship with the victims. Nevertheless, this is how the police assess the case, there is no reason for others living in the immediate area to be anxious about new incidents, says on-call lawyer Cecilie Reinskau Svorstøl in the Søreast police district in an update on Sunday afternoon.

The perpetrators left the scene on foot, but a witness saw them get into a car not far from the scene. So far, no one has been arrested.

Additional resources

The police inform NTB that it is about two masked men who were armed with handguns. The event was a party with 15 adult women aged 40 to 60. The women were robbed of their phones, money and jewellery.

– No one should have been physically injured, said operations manager Jan Kristian Johnsrud at 6 o’clock on Sunday morning.

The women speak neither Norwegian nor English, and the police therefore did not immediately perceive that it was a robbery. It eventually became clear that the robbers were armed and that they had been threatened with a weapon.

The home where the incident happened was a semi-detached house. Several people are registered at the address, but only the woman who lives there was present.

Questioning Sunday

The suspected perpetrators are still at large, and the police do not know their identities.

The police are now putting extra resources into the investigation. The victims involved will be questioned on Sunday, and investigations will be carried out in the immediate area. Among other things, the police will check whether anything has been caught by surveillance cameras, and whether cars may have filmed something.

– The police are still in an early phase of the investigation, and many leads are being worked on, and we also want tips from the public, says Svorstøl.

It may concern observations of people, cars and other activity in the area of Breidablikk in Sandefjord in the time period from 2 am to 4 am to Sunday. The police are asking for tips on 476 96 500.
