The price of the dollar on the black market witnessed a significant decline after it reached 37 pounds, it fell to the level of 28 pounds, according to economic reports, which attributed the decline in the price of the dollar on the black market to the decisions of the Central Bank.
According to a statement by the Central Bank of Egypt, a group of illegal practices related to the foreign exchange market, aimed at destabilizing the country’s monetary and financial stability, were monitored in violation of the provisions of the law to achieve quick profits in illegal ways, and the Central Bank promised violators to take deterrent legal measures in accordance with the Central Bank and Banking System Law 2020. .
The Central Bank of Egypt clarified that anyone who manipulates the purchase or sale of foreign exchange shall be punished, in accordance with the text of Article 212, with a prison sentence of no less than three years and no more than ten years, and a fine of no less than one million pounds and no more than five million pounds, or the amount of money involved in the crime, whichever is greater. This penalty applies to anyone who deals in foreign exchange outside approved banks or the entities that are licensed to do so, or who practices money transfer activity without obtaining a license in accordance with the provisions of Article (209) of this law.
