The price of the euro rose today in Egypt, on the morning of Monday, January 2, 2023, at the Central Bank, while it settled in commercial banks.
Banks returned to their usual work today, after the Sunday, January 1, holiday, marking the end of the banks’ fiscal year on December 31, 2022.
In terms of targeting the stability of the foreign exchange market, the Central Bank of Egypt recently announced the monitoring of a group of “illegal practices” related to the foreign exchange market, in light of the decline in the value of the pound against the dollar and foreign currencies.
The Central Bank of Egypt said that these practices “aimed at destabilizing the monetary and financial stability of Egypt in violation of the provisions of the law, as well as trying to make quick profits in illegal ways,” stressing that “these abuses are continuously tracked and monitored to take the necessary legal measures in this regard.”
It is worth noting that the value of Egyptian exports to the European Union during the first half of 2022 recorded 8 billion euros, compared to about 4 billion euros during the same period last year 2021, with an export growth rate of 100%, according to a statement by the European Union delegation to Egypt.
Bearing in mind that the total Egyptian exports amounted to about 27 million euros, the European Union remains the largest importer of Egyptian products, accounting for 30% of Egyptian exports.
The price of the euro on the black market in Egypt today
The price of the euro rose today in Egypt, at the beginning of the Central Bank of Egypt’s transactions, to about 26.27 pounds for purchase, and 26.37 pounds for sale, compared to 26.26 pounds for purchase, and 26.35 pounds for sale yesterday.
In the black market, the price range for trading increases by a rate ranging from 3 to 5 pounds.

The price of the euro, during morning trading today at the National Bank of Egypt (the largest government bank), maintained its level at 26.16 pounds for purchase, and 26.36 pounds for sale.

The price of the euro did not change today in the Commercial International Bank CIB (the largest private bank in Egypt), to trade stable at 26.20 pounds for purchase, and 26.42 pounds for sale.
