The Prime Minister proposes to dismiss the head of the Public Management Agency, A. Palekas

According to the submission of the head of the Government, his official activities do not meet expectations.

It is proposed to fire A. Palek after an annual evaluation of his performance.

“Activity goals were set, it seems that only one out of five has been achieved, and that’s only partially achieved,” Prime Minister’s advisor Darius Žeruolis told BNS on Wednesday.

According to him, after the approval of the civil service reform and the transformation of the Civil Service Department into the Public Management Agency from January 1, 2023, the institution has set even bigger goals.

“The Civil Service Department had become only an agency for the execution of selections, (after the adoption of the reform – BNS) the functions expanded, the expectations also expanded, unfortunately, the progress with which the Public Administration Agency should march hand in hand with the reforms turned out to be insufficient,” said D. Žeruolis.

According to the prepared draft resolution, it is proposed to dismiss A. Paleka from the position of director of the Public Management Agency as of March 7.

Last January, after the Civil Service Department was transformed into the Public Management Agency, A. Palekas was appointed its head.

The institution carries out centralized selection and career management of managers, competence development of managers and civil servants, monitoring and consulting of the activities of public sector institutions.

The establishment of this agency was one of the strategic directions of the transformation of the civil service.
