ASUS overclocker Jon “Elmor” Sandström has set a new absolute CPU frequency record. An enthusiast was able to get the flagship Intel Core i9-13900K processor to run at 9008.82 MHz.

Curiously, two months earlier, the same enthusiast dispersed the same processor to 8812.15 MHz, breaking the eight-year absolute CPU frequency record set by the AMD FX 8370 released in 2014.
For the new experiment, we used the flagship ASUS Z790 ROG Apex motherboard with a reinforced VRM power subsystem, as well as a lot of liquid nitrogen. Thanks to the latter, the operating temperature of the chip was reduced to -250.2 ° C.

The Core i9-13900K was only overclocked on one of the eight main P-cores. The remaining large and small cores of the chip were disabled. The video below shows in more detail how the overclocking experiment was carried out.
According to ASUS, 14 different world records have been set so far with their Z790 ROG Apex motherboard.
