The Pumas finished the first match of 2023, the year of the World Cup in France, in Paris

The Argentine rugby team, Los Pumas, finished today the three-day mini-concentration held in Paris and shared a training session with the staff of the local club Stade Francais as the last activity.

40 players participated in the match, including seven from Cordoba. Among those mentioned are Matías Alemanno, Eduardo Bello, Lautaro Bazán Vélez, Santiago Carreras, Juan Cruz Mallía, Joaquín Oviedo and as a guest Nicolás Viola.

The third and final day of this first concentration of Los Pumas, led by the Australian coach Michael Cheika, was held in the morning at the Jean Bouin stadium, in the Parisian city, and served as the meeting place for the forwards of Los Pumas and of the Parisian team.

The forwards performed skills on the line and the scrum and later there was an exchange of shirts between the captains Julián Montoya, from the Argentine national team, and Paul Gabrillagues, from the Stade Francais.

In the afternoon, as a final activity, the Argentine team continued with the defense and attack work, separately for the three quarters and the forwards.

Subsequently, the Los Pumas squad carried out a forty-minute training session with the players from the Stade Francais club, led by Australian coach Michael Cheika.

For his part, Felipe Contepomi, a member of the Los Pumas staff, told the Argentine Rugby Union (UAR) website that “they were three extremely productive days; because they served to not only refresh certain concepts already worked on last year, but also to bring the group together and continue planning a very important year as this 2023 will be.”

“They turned out to be very good days to consolidate certain knowledge and reinforce what we need in the next three months, and then we can get together again with closed planning for our great goal, which is the 2023 World Cup in France,” Contepomi concluded.

Meanwhile, the Tucuman center Matías Orlando also made reference to the activity and commented that the squad was “very happy” to have “got together again after several months. Because reconnecting with everyone means a lot”.

“These days allowed us to do very specific activities, which will help us prepare in the best way from now on. We got the most out of the three days of concentration ”, she concluded.

In the France 2023 World Cup, Los Pumas will be part of Zone D along with teams from England, Chile, Japan and Samoa.
