Furthermore, the city increased alcohol controls, ordered that bars and restaurants cannot open their terraces on the sidewalks and that stores that sell alcohol close their doors at 8 p.m.
Last year, Spring Break activities in Miami Beach caused a series of shootings which left two people dead.
Reactions to the desire to end Spring Break in Miami Beach
Shannon McKinney, a college student from New Orleans, expressed her outrage at the changes made by Miami Beach authorities since she knows that He was denied access to the beach because during Spring Break it closes four hours earlier than usual.
“It’s pretty crazy because we just want to have fun. We’re not here to promote violence.”. We took a long trip and spent money,” lamented McKinney, who arrived in Miami Beach in the company of her sister and a friend of hers.
For her part, Conae Rhodes, a young woman from Virginia, is more understanding of the new rules. “I can understand why they act like that. There are always people who don’t know how to behave or who drink too much”said the 25-year-old girl.
One block from Ocean Drive, in front of the Cuban restaurant she runs, Janet Alvarado criticized the economic damage of these regulations. “Now what we have is enormous security, but we don’t have customers. They went too far with small businesses like us that are trying to pay rent.”
