The Redemption of Matt Araiza: From Accusations to NFL Training with the New York Jets

Pointer Matt Araiza was released by the Buffalo Bills months after he was drafted in the sixth round of the NFL Draft after being accused of being part of a gang rape while a student at San Diego State.

Now, the San Diego County district attorney has decided not to file charges against Araiza, and that has opened the doors to the NFL again. According to the report by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the New York Jets will receive the punter of Mexican descent to train with the team and earn a place before the start of the 2023 season.

At the moment, the only pointer under contract on the Jets roster is Thomas Morstead. The 37-year-old specialist is in his second spell with the New York team since he played the first seven games of 2021.
