The judge of the Sixth Investigating Court of the National District postponed until September 22 the mandatory review of the measure of coercion Fausto Miguel de Jesús Cruz de la Mota, accused of killing the Minister of the Environment, Orlando Jorge Meralast June, in his office.

Judge Yanibe Rivas decided to postpone the mandatory review of the preventive detention that weighs on Cruz de la Mota because he changed his lawyer.

The lawyer who will represent him from now on is Amador González. His previous defense was made up of Manny Sierra and Ybo René.

Cruz de la Mota, who was a childhood friend of Jorge Mera, killed him with several shots, because allegedly the official did not authorize a license for the export of used batteries.

According to investigations by the prosecution body, this company had requested a permit to export five thousand tons of used batteries. Despite its rejection, Aurum Gavia SA had reintroduced the request. This document had Miguel Cruz in his power.
