“The rural environment is not just cows!”
In Castile and León, the villages are organizing to fight against the rural exodus and the digital desert. The local lists hope to break through in the regional elections this Sunday.
“In Noviercas there are barely 60 inhabitants in winter. How can you imagine planting a giant industrial dairy there, with 23,520 cows connected to machines in sheds? Begoña Izquierdo makes and redo the accounts. “It will be the biggest installation in Europe!” A retired biology teacher, she is mobilizing with the local association Hacendera against an “indecent and disproportionate” project, she says, which wants to set up in this small village in the province of Soria, one of the most depopulated in the north of Spain, in the region of Castile and León.
