Christian Eriksen approaches next season with genuine optimism and hopes Manchester United can build on a promising first campaign under Erik ten Hag.
The Reds triumphed in the League Cup in 2022/23 and came close to adding a second trophy, but were narrowly beaten in the FA Cup final by rivals Manchester City at Wembley.
As the clock ticks on for the start of the new competitive season, Eriksen hopes his second spell as a red team player will be even more successful in terms of trophies.

“I think in the end we are happy to have won a trophy, but of course we are sad to have lost the other final [la FA Cup] to win one more trophy that season”
said Christian during an interview with the club’s media in the United States as part of the 2023 tour.
“But I think it was a good start with the new manager and for me personally the first season and now it’s time to carry on and do better than last season. The goal is to win more trophies and hopefully reach as many finals as possible and then show what we are capable of in the league and now in the Champions League.”
Although there are still three pre-season matches to go, our number 14 is eager to step onto the pitch at the Theater of Dreams again when Wolves are the visitors on August 14 for the Premier League opener of 2023/24 .
Christian believes good home form will once again be crucial and our wonderful support will also play its part.
“I think throughout last season it was exceptional to play at Old Trafford with all the wins we had, so that’s something we have to take with us into next season”
he told us.
“The fans will help us and we will try to reciprocate so that they enjoy coming to the matches. It will definitely be a good first game.”
Of course, the UEFA Champions League and all its glory returns to Old Trafford this season. Given that the Reds have had to fight hard to earn their place in the competition, Eriksen believes that we need to replicate this experience every year and prove our ability to compete with the elite of European football.
“I think it’s one of the tournaments we enjoy playing the most, it’s a prestigious tournament”
said the Danish international.
“You know how hard it is to be in it when you’re not there and now that you’re there it’s just about being there every year – which of course you try to do in the league but now we have to enjoy being there but also being able to show what we can do in the Champions League.”
