Rabat – The Speaker of the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset, Amir Ohana, highlighted, Thursday in Rabat, the role of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, in mediating between Israelis and Palestinians to achieve lasting peace in the region.
“The important role played by His Majesty the King as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee and the trust He enjoys from all parties gives him, not only an in-depth knowledge of the region and the challenges we all face, but also the ideal position to be able to serve as a mediator for the peace to which we all aspire,” Mr. Ohana told the press after a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami.
He assured that “thanks to the innovative thinking of His Majesty the King, the prospect of peace has come closer”.
Welcoming his visit to the Moroccan Parliament, “the first of its kind in the history of Israel to the Parliament of a Muslim State”, he paid tribute to “His Majesty King Mohammed VI for his leadership resolutely turned towards future, for his vision of peace, for his innovative and innovative thinking”.
Mr. Ohanna also recalled the benevolence with which the late HM Mohammed V surrounded Moroccan Jews, particularly evoking the role that the late Sovereign played for the protection of Jews from Nazi oppression during the Second World War.
For that, “Jews will always be grateful to him,” he concluded.
