Kate Middleton had to ‘give up identity’
On Tuesday evening (May 17) ZDF ran a documentary about Kate and Camilla. The two women are currently the ones who should ensure sympathy among the people alongside their husbands. But the royal title also has its price, as historian Anna Whitelock explains in the documentary.
“They kind of have to give up their identity in a way, which is pretty misogynistic. They must represent the royal family, which sees itself as a company. It’s not about advancing yourself. You have to respect the unwritten rules that apply to royal women.”
Camilla also had a hard time
It’s easy to forget that Camilla also comes from a middle-class family background. She too had to find her place next to the then prince. Doing that is not that easy, as the Royals expert explains.
