However, at the last minute the candidate of the Frente Amplio, from competition, dropped out, so Rafael Palavecino (PS) will go directly to the ballot in October, and will compete for the position with the current mayor, Jorge Del Pozo, who will go as an independent .
The primaries were also lowered in Coihueco, where the only candidate of the bloc will be the radical Luis Améstica, and in San Nicolás, where the DC Víctor Toro will do the same. In San Ignacio, meanwhile, the PPD Rodny Baeza was appointed, announcing the former radical mayor, now independent, Wilson Olivares, that he will go outside the pact.
Finally, primaries had been agreed in the communes of Bulnes, between the DC, the PPD, the PR and RD; and in El Carmen, between the DC, the PS, the PPD and CS. However, they were not registered, so the parties involved must decide through another mechanism, between now and July, who will represent the bloc.
