Ecuadorian rider Richard Carapaz won the 4th stage of the Tour de Romandie on Saturday in Leysin, of which Spaniard Carlos Rodriguez became the new yellow jersey.

The reigning Olympic champion narrowly won ahead of German Florian Lipowitz, following attacking 2km from the finish of the queen stage, with five climbs over the 151.7km between Saillon and Leysin.

Carlos Rodriguez, who came in third position, benefited from the good work of his Ineos Grenadier team to take the yellow jersey that his compatriot Juan Ayuso had worn on Friday.

Rodriguez, 5th in the Tour de France last year, is ahead of two riders from the Bora-Hansgrohe team in the general classification, the Russian Alexandre Vlasov and Lipowitz, while Ayuso drops to 5th place, 27 seconds behind the leader.
