Minsal confirms that there are only imported cases of Dengue in Chile – La Discusión 2024-04-27 14:19:41

The Ministry of Health reported this Monday that all cases of dengue registered in the continental territory of the country are imported, following the warning from the Seremi de Valparaíso regarding the presence of the Aedes aegypti mosquito in the commune of Los Andes.

According to Christian García, head of the Department of Epidemiology, “the latest report from last Tuesday shows 135 cases, which is a reflection of what was happening in the rest of the Americas.” García highlighted that “all these cases from continental Chile are from people who have traveled, that is, imported cases. “There is no dengue contagion within continental Chile.”

The Ministry of Health has reinforced the surveillance system since last year, when a health alert was declared between the regions of Arica and Parinacota and the Metropolitan region due to the discovery of the transmitter. In recent months, given the outbreaks in other South American countries, control measures have been intensified.

Recently, inspections at the Los Andes bus terminal revealed the presence of adult mosquitoes and eggs of the same species, which has led to fumigation work being carried out at the site. This action is carried out following a sighting recorded last Friday.
