Expected very soon, Samsung’s Galaxy A55 would be the first in the A5x series to benefit from Xclipse graphics. As a reminder, the latter comes from a partnership between Samsung and AMD… supplier of the chips integrated into the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, among others.

Expected at the start of 2024, and therefore very soon, the Samsung Galaxy A55 will take over from the current Galaxy A54 by adopting, for the first time on the Galaxy A5x range, a mobile processor equipped with an Xclipse GPU part . Co-signed by AMD, this graphics part should allow the device to be more comfortable in gaming than its predecessor, limited to a simple Mali-G68 MP5 GPU.
The latest leaks surrounding the Galaxy A55 suggest that the device will be able to rely on an Exynos 1480 SoC (which Samsung has not yet announced). This chip will allow the inclusion of an Xclipse GPU in the mid-range. A first.
A powerful and elegant mobile?
A first visit to Geekbench tells us a little more about this new processor and its technical specifications. We discover in particular that the chip would be structured around 8 CPU cores (4 high-performance cores clocked at 2.75 GHz and 4 high-efficiency cores clocked at 2.05 GHz), but also and above all around an Xclipse 530 GPU. He is especially the one we wait for around the corner.
For the rest, the Galaxy A55 would be equipped with a 120 Hz and Full HD+ 6.5-inch Oled screen, 8 GB of RAM, and would run Android 14 out of the box (with the OneUI overlay as a bonus, of course) . There would also be a 5000 mAh battery compatible with 25 W (wired) charging. The device would also include a 50 Mpx main photo module, a 12 Mpx ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 5 Mpx macro camera, all in a 161.1 x 77.3 x 8.2 mm chassis according to the indiscretions shared by the often well-informed leaker OnLeaks.
We should learn more about the device in a few weeks, this time through official channels. We are therefore waiting to know its pricing placement. As a reminder, its predecessor is sold in France for around 500 euros.
