Samsung gives some impressive figures for its Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3, very popular models, sometimes more than the brand’s flagships.
The latest smartphones with folding screen of the brand Samsung are a real success. The South Korean giant has shipped four times more devices in this category in 2021 than it shipped in 2020, according to its own figures. In addition, it only took a month after the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 to exceed the number of cumulative total sales of predecessors last year.

Better still, finally, behind these already impressive sales figures, Samsung explains having observed a “massive increase” in the number of customers who came from another brand especially for its smartphones with foldable screens. More specifically, more customers have come to Samsung for its Flip 3 than for its flagships.

Although Samsung has not released the exact figures, the brand says it has seen a 150% increase in customers who switched from a third-party brand to a Flip 3 compared to the Galaxy Note 20. And an increase of 140% among customers who have switched from a third-party brand to a Flip 3 compared to the Galaxy S21. The form factor of the Flip is obviously its main interest, as is its front screen which allows the user to use the phone without necessarily having to open it. As for the Fold 3, people who responded to the survey Samsung said they acquired it for its larger screen, multitasking capabilities and S Pen support.
In its press release, Samsung explains that the demand for smartphones with foldable screens is expected to increase tenfold by 2023. Hence the giant’s massive investments in research and development to be able to stay ahead of competitive devices, that already exist and that will happen.
