Today, the three letters ” AMG refer to all sports cars marketed by Mercedes-Benz. Since 1999, the German manufacturer has in fact owned this renowned tuner, founded in 1967 and which has remained independent for more than 30 years. But in the 80s, AMG had not yet approached Mercedes even if it prepared almost all the models of the great manufacturer for its customers. Back when road-going Mercedes dared not go too far in sport, the AMG-reviewed models acted as extreme machines with an intimidating aesthetic presentation and a high level of power.
It is precisely these AMG preparations that the Artcurial house will be selling during the Retromobile show: a collection of ten models from the 80s with threatening exteriors, including an enormous 560 SEC “Wide Body” equipped with a V8 pushed to 385 horsepower and an enlarged body. A machine that we would imagine perfectly to serve the villains of a Hollywood film.
The sale of this collection of old AMGs will be held on February 3 at the Rétromobile show. Remember that we will also be selling legendary collector cars, including a Ferrari 250 LM which could well exceed the 30 million euro mark. The AMGs, they should accumulate several million euros in total value.
