The Duchess was seen reading to patients and staff at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) as part of a literacy campaign. She took part in the hospital’s Make March Matter campaign last month (March 21), reading books including Rosie the Riveter, Pete the Cat and I Saw a Cat.
The mum-of-two was photographed with the children, who were clearly enjoying the stories as part of the CHLA Literally Healing programme.
However, it’s Meghan’s outfit that has caught the eye. Her white floral Oscar de la Renta dress, ballet flats and natural makeup are believed to be a peace offering to Kate, hinting at a possible end to their reported feud.
Fashion editor Amber Graafland told Fabulous: “The Royal Family is famous for using their clothes to convey subtle messages and Meghan has learned to use her clothes to change visual views. The Duchess was clearly sending a message with her floral ensemble.”
Graafland said: “Synonymous with purity, optimism and friendship, flowers represent growth and blossoming, and rather poignantly, flowers symbolize forgiveness.”
He wondered if the idea of forgiveness could be from Meghan to Kate, especially given the recent health news for the Princess of Wales. Graafland also said the Duchess of Sussex is “keen to put the events of the last few years behind her” and wants to move on and rebuild.
The Duchess of Sussex, 42, who lives in Montecito, appeared in a happy mood as she met children.
Expert Judy James told the MailOnline that Megan managed to make each child “feel special” as she greeted them individually, while showing empathy as she engaged with them a lot.
“Meghan delivered a body language masterclass that could really have given us all a vital lesson in effective and engaging communication skills while wearing a mask in the age of Covid.”
