The series “Endless Night”, shot in the Bay of Somme, will be released this Wednesday on Netflix

In the first minutes of the first episode of Endless Night, Eva, the main character, builds a sandcastle on the beach. She sees her father appear, but it is a dream. The beach, off the screen, is it very real, since it is quite simply the large beach of Quend, in the Bay of Somme.

Plans showing Quend beach are numerous

Endless Night, broadcast from this Wednesday on Netflix, is a French series directed by an Angevin, David Perrault and produced by in particular by Federation, at the origin in particular of the successful series “Le Bureau des Légendes” and “En Therapy”. Composed of 6 episodes lasting 40 minutes, it was mostly shot in Belgium. But for the outdoor scenes, the Bay of Somme was chosen. Saint-Valéry-sur-Somme tennis court, Cayeux-sur-Mer and Boismont streets and Quend beach. So many places that we see several times in the series.

“We were looking for a place not too far from the (Belgian) border to move the teams and the person in charge of scouting told me about the Bay of Somme”says the director of Endless Night, David Perrault. “I needed wild landscapes, still preserved.” Filming in the Bay of Somme, between April and May 2021allowed David Perrault to be seduced and he does not rule out returning for another project.

For the people of Quend, this shoot is a “showcase” for their city. “I’m going to share it as much as possible,” says Dorothée, an employee at the city’s press office. Aurore, the manager of the supermarket, should also watch the series: “It’s very good, it allows you to discover our coasts and our beaches!”. And then there are the passing tourists, like Jennifer, who discovered the existence of the series when she arrived “we’ll look, because that way we’ll see where we were on vacation.”

So will there be an “Endless Night” effect in Quend and the Baie de Somme? Pierre, from the Quend tourist office believes in it. “When there is a report, a film or a series, people come, it’s a great showcase!”. Each year, nearly 700 days of filming are organized throughout the Hauts-de-France region.
