The Slovak authorities begin to study the issue of transferring the MiG-29 to Ukraine

Slovakia will begin negotiations on the transfer of MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine at the domestic political level, as well as with the European Commission and Kyiv. This was announced at a press conference on Friday, acting. Prime Minister Eduard Heger, the day before, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky asked for supplies.

Mr. Heger stressed that the MiG-29 fighters have been decommissioned and Slovakia cannot use them. “It is these decommissioned MiGs that can save innocent lives in Ukraine,” he said (quoted from ta3). And about. the Prime Minister expects that the cost of delivered aircraft will be reimbursed by Brussels. “Every aid we provide in this way is paid for by the European Peace Fund,” said Eduard Heger.

He also said that the government is in talks with lawyers about the possibility of taking individual measures, since the current cabinet is appointed temporarily and has limited powers. In the event that it is necessary to change the constitution of Slovakia or adopt an appropriate law to help Ukraine, Mr. Heger believes that this will not be a problem.

During a meeting with acting Prime Minister of Slovakia at the EU summit in Brussels, Mr. Zelensky officially asked for the supply of MiG-29 fighters. Eduard Heger replied that Slovakia would do its best to comply with this request.
