The SMB-WINING Consortium pays more than one billion in surface taxes to the communities of Boké and Télimélé

In accordance with the Guinean mining code and faithful to its societal and environmental obligations, the Société Minière de Boké (SMB) proceeded yesterday, Friday August 5, 2022, to the payment of surface taxes for the year 2022, in nine (09) municipalities (urban and rural) Boké and Télimélé prefectures. The amount amounts to one billion 205 million 729 thousand 649 Guinean francs, according to the Legal and Tax Advisor of the SMB, Abdoulaye Sampil.

The checks were officially handed over this morning to the municipal collectors in the presence of SMB delegates, administrative authorities, the mayor of the urban municipality of Boké, Mamadouba Tawel Camara, the prefectural director of Mines of Boké, Mamadouba Sylla as well as the mayors and general secretaries of the municipalities (urban and rural) concerned.

This year (2022), the prefecture of Boké benefited from 868 million 114 thousand 273 Guinean francs distributed between the urban commune of Boké-center which received 106 million 956 thousand 070 Guinean francs and the sub-prefectures of Dabiss (446,331,071 GNF ), Kolaboui (5,463,931), Kanfrandé (35,391,434), Malapouya (5,224,574) and Tanènè (268,747,194) Guinean francs.

The prefecture of Télimélé, for its part, benefited from a financial envelope of 337 million 615 thousand 376 Guinean francs.

This amount is divided between the sub-prefectures of Daramagnaki (93 million 096 thousand 017 Guinean francs), Konsotamy (80 million 796 thousand 785 FG) and Missira (163 million 722 thousand 574) Guinean francs), still according to the Legal and Tax Advisor of the SMB, Abdoulaye Sampil.

Further, Abdoulaye Sampil wants these funds to be invested in the realization of development projects to maintain peace and cohesion in the areas of operation of the SMB.

All this amount, it was specified during the ceremony, is the fruit of five (05) permits currently in operation in the localities mentioned above.

According to the Mayor of the Rural Commune of Kanfrandé, “The Communal Council will decide on the use of the funds allocated to its community.

But already, Abdoulaye Kaba is betting on the construction of basic infrastructure and the purchase of office furniture to improve the working conditions of municipal executives.

On behalf of the six beneficiary communities, the mayor indicates that this amount will further boost local development.

In his terms, Mamadouba Tawel Camara relies on strengthening the awareness of communities who, above all, must work to maintain peace and social tranquility in the beneficiary areas.

According to the prefectural director of Mines, Mamadouba Sylla: “5% of these surface taxes are intended for the operation of the municipalities and 85% for local development actions. »

This is why he invited the mayors and community tax collectors to make rational use of these funds to meet the expectations of their populations.

The ceremony ended with the delivery of the discharge receipts to the Legal and Tax Advisor of the SMB. This proves that SMB has fulfilled its legal obligations vis-à-vis communities impacted by mining.
