Kirill Lavrov “Mom and dad paid attention to each other under unusual circumstances,” notes Kirill Lavrov’s daughter Maria. She was the youngest in the family. The first-born son, a famous artist and his wife, actress Valentina Nikolaeva, was named Sergei. Lavrov was officially married only once. On September 15, Kirill Yuryevich turns 98 years old.

Unlike her husband, whose filmography includes more than a hundred acting works, each better than the other, Valentina Nikolaeva almost never acted in films. She was a theater actress. Young Valya met her husband, then still her future, at the Lesya Ukrainka Theater.
Kirill was three years older. He led the Komsomol organization. Valentina was forced to invite him to his place for an educational conversation. Have you seen this before? Everyone went out to clear the snow, which had fallen too much in Kyiv. And Nikolaeva said: “I am an artist, and clearing snow is not my business.”
Lavrov began the conversation sternly, but did not maintain such a tone for long. “Switched to compliments. The young people fell in love with each other. And then a dorm room became available. It was impossible to yawn! Mom and dad got married, declaring themselves husband and wife, although they signed only a year later,” said Maria Lavrova.

The son and daughter were born ten years apart. When the youngest was born, the issue of choosing a name was resolved simply. Kirill Yuryevich was on tour and sent a telegram: “Congratulations on your daughter Masha.” What was there left to do? Lavrov at that time was already over forty.
“And they brought a cat”
While growing up, the actor instilled in both children:
“Never ask for anything, never humiliate yourself before anyone.” However, in general, the approach to raising their son and daughter turned out to be different. With the eldest Sergei, the parents were more strict and demanding: “they constantly moralized, instructed, scolded.”
Maria calls the attitude towards herself in childhood “celebratory”: she was pampered, hugged, kissed.
“When I woke up in the morning, the first thing I did was run to my parents’ room, climb between them, and the three of us would lie in bed. And when I went to bed, a ritual was strictly observed: all family members had to come to me, wish me good night and kiss me. When the cat appeared, they brought the cat. The princess did not fall asleep without this,” 57-year-old Lavrova recalls with a smile.

This medal, of course, had another side. Maria Kirillovna admitted to reporters:
“When something wasn’t to my liking, I immediately threw hysterics and demanded what I wanted. I was a very nasty, spoiled child, and I considered this the norm.”
The parents realized that they were somehow wrong, but they could not help themselves.
“As I understand now, they were resting next to me. I was a holiday for them – such a doll, and they admired everything that this doll did,” the late daughter throws up her hands.
“He didn’t call me, and he resisted for a long time.”
Both the son and daughter of the acting couple grew up to be worthy people. We were with Kirill Yuryevich at the most difficult moment – we did our best to help the elderly actor survive the death of his wife. Valentina Alexandrovna passed away in 2002. Nikolaeva died just a month after she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and underwent surgery.
Maria followed in her parents’ footsteps – she graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography. She started at the Youth Theater of the Northern capital. And then she moved to the Bolshoi Drama Theater, which was directed by her father until the end of her life.

Maria Kirillovna does not hide: “The difficult moment was associated with my transition from the Youth Theater to the Bolshoi Drama Theater. Then I saw that dad was not very sure about the need for me to move. Not only did he not call me, but he also resisted for a long time.”
Lavrova was a guest actress at the Bolshoi Drama Theater for two years before her fate was finally decided. Among the roles played by Maria are Antigone, Anna in “Vassa Zheleznova”, Julitta in “The Forest”. She acts in films a little – her filmography includes a little more than 30 roles. There are no main ones among them.
Sergei Lavrov does not like to tell journalists about himself. It is known that after school he went to get a higher education, but became very interested in music. I wanted to leave the university. Kirill Yuryevich then behaved wisely – he did not quarrel with his son. Later, Sergei Kirillovich showed himself to be a gifted entrepreneur. He is now approaching 70.
Kirill Lavrov survived his wife by five years. He didn’t marry again, but at the end of his days he still found personal happiness once again. The famous actor died in 2007 – he burned out in six months from acute leukemia.
