The ZiB 2-Armin Wolf’s interview with the head of the SPÖ delegation in the EU Parliament, Andreas Schieder, was just a small foretaste of the long-term campaign of the political rivals once morest the SPÖ chairman Andreas Babler before the European elections in June 2024. Even if Schieder has great political routine for the European credibility of the Social Democrats and for exoneration of his party leader, Babler’s statements from 2020 (!) are so bizarre and so absurd that they cannot be shelved: The EU is “a neoliberal construct at its worst Art”, “the most aggressive military alliance that has ever existed”, “worse than NATO”.
