The squat rue des Palais in Schaerbeek evacuated: only 250 people were taken care of

On the side of Fedasil, the Federal Agency for the reception of asylum seekers, it is claimed to have found a place for 788 occupants of rue des Palais since December. Nearly 35,000 places are available and this is still insufficient, but, assures Benoît Mansy, the spokesperson, “as soon as a place becomes available, we call each asylum seeker, always giving priority to the most vulnerable people“.

There are still 120 people on the waiting list. Benoît Mansy specifies that “Fedasil only supports asylum seekers and on rue des Palais, there are also homeless people, people without papers, and drug addicts, who do not come under the Federal Agency“.
