This week, the third and final year began to exempt expatriates working in small enterprises from the financial compensation for work licenses, following it was approved to exempt small enterprises starting from the middle of Sha’ban 1441 and for a period of 3 years, until the decision ended in the middle of Sha’ban 1444.

The decision included exempting labor fees from work permits amounting to 800 riyals per month (9600 riyals annually) to be reduced to 100 riyals only, which is implemented electronically through the electronic portal of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.

According to the details of the decision, workers will be exempted from fees in small establishments with a total of 9 workers or less, with the employer working full-time, with the number of exempted workers raised to 4 when hiring another Saudi, with the employer also working full-time.

The establishments were granted exemption from the financial consideration for each fiscal year during the last period, and the establishments have only the last year to benefit from the exemption.

It is noteworthy that the total number of establishments with a total number of employees of 9 or less is regarding 576,312 establishments, according to data for the fourth quarter of 2021.
